Print Exchange 2023: Abby Hann

Abby Hann’s artistic practice is inspired by wild places and the species that inhabit them. growing up on the island of Newfoundland fostered her fascination with plants and animals from a young age and lead her to study conservation biology at university. She has worked in treacherous environments catching seabirds, hares, and fish while spending hours analyzing them through a microscope.

Abby discovered printmaking while attending art school. leading a somewhat nomadic life, Abby now works mainly with linocut printmaking under the name purity syrup press. Drawing from her knowledge of biology and experiences outdoors, her prints depict ecological interactions between plants and animals.
