Frequently asked questions
I am flying in from another capital city can you help me get to Melrose? I don’t want to walk.
Yes, of course. There may be another guest who is happy to carpool, we ask this question when booking. Alternatively, we can arrange airport transfers, please email us to discuss this.
I don’t have a creative bone in my body but I want to get away. How will I cope?
This is perfect, a fresh mind, with no preconceived ideas. So often people come with an idea and get stuck, because you are open-minded and want to try something new, you will be fabulous. Our tutors will give you clear instructions and take you through the processes step-by-step.
Do I have to do all the workshops?
Of course not. Sally won’t be offended if you want some downtime when one of the sessions is on.
Can I nap in between projects?
Napping is basically an art form here, so feel free to perfect it!
I have never done any printmaking before, will I be ok?
The printmaking retreats will provide an introductory level of printmaking for beginners. Experienced printmakers are welcome to work independently and will enjoy the beautiful and peaceful country setting of a source of creative inspiration.
What should I bring to the retreat?
Just yourself, a smile, and maybe pants… but hey, we’re not here to judge if you forget those.
Do I really not need to bring anything?
Yes, this is correct. All your meals, accommodation and workshop materials are provided in your fees.
Do I need any art experience?
Absolutely not! If you can hold a pencil and occasionally colour inside the lines, you’re overqualified.
Will I make friends?
Only if you like laughing, creating, and sharing stories with amazing women.
I am unsure if my car will make it from Adelaide! Can I carpool?
Sally will be asking retreat guests upon registration if they would assist in carpooling, and because creative women are awesome, I am pretty sure we will arrive safely.
Can I bring my pet?
Sorry, no pets are allowed. As much as we’d love to meet your fur baby, this retreat is all about your zen. Unless your pet can paint or hold a yoga pose, we need you to find him a baby-sitter for some “me-time” of their own!
I am gluten, and lactose intolerant have an egg allergy and am also a vegan will I starve?
Hell no! Sally is a vegetarian and gets it! However, please, please let us know when you place your registration.
What if I eat all the snacks?
Then you’ll be crowned the official Snack Queen, and we’ll restock. No shame here!
I am worried I snore and will keep people awake.
I am sure we will all snore after a full day of creativity. However, we hear your concern. If you are really worried we can pop you discreetly to one end of the accommodation area, plus choose the King Single room apartments.
Can I have a room for myself? I don’t like to share my space.
We like to cater for your every whim this weekend, yes, please select at the time of booking. If they are all taken and only twin share is available. Please email us to discuss.
The nitty-gritty and all the finer details.
