Print Exchange 2026: Timo Ehmke

Timo Ehmke lives and works in Lüneburg and explores the possibilities of printmaking in his artistic practice. His work focuses on the interplay between relief printing (linocut) and intaglio (etching), deliberately engaging with their contrasting qualities. Linocut allows for clear color areas and defined contours, while etching—particularly through aquatint and line etching—enables subtle tonal gradations and atmospheric depth. By using multiple plates, he creates layered compositions with nuanced color transitions. Timo often draws his motifs from the northern German landscape: fields, horizons, and seascapes shaped by distinctive light and color conditions.
