Print Exchange 2026: Sophie Desjardins

I dedicate my printmaking practice to intaglio on copper plates, working primarily with etching, aquatint, and mezzotint. Mezzotint, now rarely practiced, plays a central role in my work and helps shape my visual language. The animals I depict are not generic figures but singular beings, each carrying its own story, personality, and sensitivity. Through close attention to posture, expression, and the names I give them, I invite viewers to recognize their individuality and to regard them with empathy.
