Print Exchange 2026: Grace Bazzica

For my artwork, I decided to make a lazy dugong. I chose that because we had to choose an “animal with attitude”. It has attitude because of the wired headphones and the phone, showing that it scrolls and listens to music all day. Dugongs are fat and float around, and I added moss on its back and wrinkles to show that it’s old and lazy. I had many trials and errors while carving and printing my ideas. Overall, I printed 11 different dugongs. I tried many different ways, like watercolour, plain colours and multiple colours, and made two different carvings and layered them. They didn’t end up working, but it was a fun experience, and I really enjoyed learning how to make prints. The blue background colour is the negative, and the outline of the dugong is the positive. The focal point is the blue background, and the reading path is the white outline of the dugong.
