Print Exchange 2026: Giulia Gallini

I draw and create block prints of usual and mundane objects found in domestic and urban spaces. I’m drawn to the things that surround us daily and to what they reveal about the individuals or groups of people who have used them. Through wear, repetition, and placement, these objects carry visible traces of human presence and routine. I often work in small series, using repetition as a way to reflect on subtle differences and similarities between objects. I find this approach turns familiar objects into records of use, habit, and time. I depict these simple subjects using comparably simple techniques. My drawings and prints are characterised by clear lines and a straightforward structure, emphasising form and contrast. I work with bold, rich colours and minimal shading, with a strong preference for black and sharp contrasts, allowing the objects to remain direct, graphic, and grounded.
