Biography

Bridget Farmer is an award winning Australian printmaker, author and illustrator. She is renowned for her drypoint etchings and children’s literature that celebrate Australia’s native birdlife. Originally from Northern Ireland, Bridget pursued studies in jewellery and silversmithing, and a post graduate diploma in art and design at Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland from 1999 to 2003. In 2005, she relocated to Australia, initially intending a short visit, but eventually settling in country Victoria. It was in Australia that Bridget discovered printmaking, a medium that resonated deeply with her artistic sensibilities. She completed a Master of Fine Arts in printmaking at RMIT in 2007 and was awarded the Australian Print Workshop Collie Print Trust Printmaking Fellowship in 2008. It was during these years that she began creating original etchings inspired by the diverse birdlife surrounding her.
