Print Exchange 2026: Bashar Hasna

I chose the clownfish for my design because, as I simply explained before, when I lived in Dubai and Syria, I used to have a pet fish that I enjoyed hanging out with, feeding and playing with, and I want to bring back the feeling of those memories. My pet fish was significant because it was one of the funniest times I had, and it was the only pet I ever had, so it felt unique and enjoyable. The fish also has attitude because I have never had a bad time with it. In fact, I always enjoyed doing stuff with him, and he always made me smile.

Something I have learnt from printmaking is the process of making a print, so now at home, if I want to do it again, I can just buy the equipment needed and safely do it by myself. I have learnt the meaning of positive and negative space, what different tools are used for, and how it has no limits and you can do any design you want! Overall, I have loved printmaking, and I have learnt many new things about it along the way. Something I could’ve done better is carve more of the negative space because, as you can see in the image below, some of it got painted black, which ruined my design
