Biography

This print features Moby the cat wearing a crown. I chose Moby as a subject because he represents independence, curiosity, and attitude. By placing a crown on hls head, I wanted to emphasise his regal qualities, showing that dignity and strength can exist in our most loved, our smallest and our most familiar sentient beings. In creating this print, I wanted to highlight Mob’s expression and attitude. The printmaking process allowed me to simplify his image emphasising form and character rather than fine detail. I was especially interested in capturing the cat’s gaze, giving it a sense of authority balanced with charm. The crown serves as both decoration and metaphor. Through this print, I celebrate individuality and the idea that everyone—no matter how ordinary they may seem—has something royal within them.
