Print Exchange 2024: Susan Morris

Susan Morris Artist Statement The central focus of my art is autobiographical investigation through personal and imaginative experiences. These experiences are expressed through colour, pattern, symbols and imagery, expanding the range of possible interpretations of the decorative, the personal and the feminine. In exploring personal experiences and memories each new experience changes our perception of reality, our memory of these experiences are not fixed but are evolving over time, more fanciful, less urgent, more embellished, less accurate, more confused. In looking at the everyday and using everyday items such as a bowl, vase and found textiles as symbols that surround memories, experiences and connections in time whilst the use of fabric anchors these experiences and connections. “forgetting is a crucial part of remembering”
