Biography

Misu Juju started in late-2019 as the passion project for self-taught artist Julie Nguyen, based in Naarm (Melbourne). Through this project, she explores different mediums and crafts to create her whimsical works. Currently, Julie’s predominant medium is lino printing, which has allowed her to enjoy getting her hands dirty! This printmaking journey has also taught her the important interplay between ink and paper. In particular, she delights in printing on handmade paper (such as Washi paper from Awagami Factory in Tokushima, Japan) and locally made paper using recycled materials. Taking inspiration from everyday life, pop culture (especially Japanese pop culture) and her own heritage, Misu Juju is about capturing the quiet moments and simple pleasures that makes each day unique and memorable.
