Biography

The central focus of my art is autobiographical investigation through personal and imaginative experiences. These experiences are expressed through colour, pattern, symbols, stitch, and imagery. Expanding the range of possible interpretations of the decorative, the personal and the feminine. In my recent works I am exploring my personal experiences and memories. Whilst each new experience changes our perception of reality, our memory of these experiences is not fixed but is evolving over time, more fanciful, less urgent, and more embellished. In looking at the everyday, I am using the everyday objects as symbols that surround memories, experiences, and connections in time. Whilst the use of fabric and stitch anchors these experiences and connections and honours the long thread in the history of women’s stitching. “Forgetting is a crucial part of remembering”
