Bringing global kindness to Adelaide this Christmas.
A special Australian edition of This Box is for Good.
Christmas can be a stressful time, with the pressure of gift-giving, obligations, and the heightened sense of anxiety many feel. This year, I’m embracing a different approach, one that’s about kindness, creativity, and spreading joy. I’m thrilled to share my involvement in a beautiful global project called This Box is for Good.
Born out of a desire to combine art, generosity, and the magic of giving, This Box is for Good was started in Canada by Lisa Chandler and Peter Rukavina. The project encourages random acts of kindness by creating a unique box filled with curated gifts and original artwork. But here’s the catch: the box is meant to be passed along, not kept. Its purpose is to travel, spreading joy and connection with each new recipient.
When I first saw the project online, I couldn’t help but feel excited about the potential of combining creativity with kindness. I reached out to Lisa and Peter to learn more, and soon after, I was invited to create the project’s first-ever international collaboration. It was an honour to contribute an original piece of artwork to the box and to help bring the project’s vision to life in Australia.
Each box includes a piece of my artwork adorning its external panels and a creative surprise inside. The surprise could be a small print or other thoughtful items—each piece is meant to inspire the next person to pass along the kindness and joy. Additionally, I’ve included a Peter’s hand-illustrated zine to explain the project’s heart and purpose.
One of the most unique elements of This Box is for Good is its emphasis on passing the box along. The act of gifting something handmade holds a deep intimacy. By making the box temporary—something that moves between people—we’re encouraging a ripple effect of kindness and creativity that continues long after the box is received.
I truly believe this project ticks all the boxes—pun intended! It’s a celebration of connection, creativity, and the power of giving. I’m beyond excited to be part of something that brings people together through acts of kindness.
