Print Exchange 2026: Bethany Elsden

Through art, we have been making more printmaking pieces, and this time we got to submit them into an art gallery. The theme was “Animals with Attitude”. I thought of an idea of a little bunny as a jester. This was a big opportunity, and so I wanted to make it special. This experience was also different as I was trying out a new method of printing, as I tried reduction printing for the first time. At first, I struggled because I didn’t quite understand the concept of reduction, but with some help, I got the idea.

Something I struggled with was actually getting started, as I was stalling a little, but with my teacher’s help, I ended up very proud of my work and happy with how it turned out. Another issue that I encountered was that I struggled with placing it in the same spot every time, making the piece a little off, but it ended up looking good in the end as it had an effect. I will be making another piece soon, as I want to try some other things and more ideas.
