Print Exchange 2026: Mel Telfer

I’m based on remote tayaritja Flinders Island, in lutruwita Tasmania. Daily life is full of rural landscapes, birdlife, and coastal encounters. Being equipped with a strongly curious and biology-focussed mind, I love looking into all the small details of anatomy & structure of the creatures around me. I can spend hours admiring the leg feathers on a boobook owl! My printmaking often dives down the rabbit hole of accurate detail, and sometimes I have to remind myself to loosen up and carve with spontaneous wild abandon.
