Print Exchange 2026: Lajla Thye

Born in Denmark, after arriving in Australia I spend 22 years as a florist, happily surrounded by flowers, colour and a bit of everyday chaos. While I have always been drawn to creative pursuits, it was a linocut workshop that truly captured me – I instantly knew I had found my medium – I love the process of creating each print by hand, celebrating the subtle variations and the beauty of imperfection, Today, my printmaking is inspired by the world around me, my garden, nature, animals and the moments of everyday life. My work is influenced by the simplicity of Danish design, with a love of quiet lines and quirky details.
