Print Exchange 2024: Ashlie Zeidler

I am the truest expression of myself in the middle of a creative process, bent over my worktable late at night, fiddling with tiny details to bring some story into focus. I draw inspiration from folklore, the relentless seasons of earth, and the vast spectrum of human imagination. Creating, for me, is an ongoing experiment juxtaposing darkness and light. My work seeks primeval resonance and hopes to inspire the storyteller within. Human nature is intimately tied to inspired work. I long to explore forgotten corners and remind us why we are here, asking every question. My own story surprises me with twists and turns. Failure is a crucial part of my process. Printmaking as an art form has stolen my heart because it forces me to try things and see. It’s a medium that requires resilience and problem solving even with repeated practice.
