Where is the retreat?
You will be staying at Melrose, the oldest town in the southern Flinders Ranges. Melrose is an easy escape from Adelaide, scarcely 3-hours north or an easy 1-hour drive from Port Augusta.

Melrose is a busy and vibrant country community – a phrase that isn’t often heard when venturing off the beaten track in Australia. Filled with a number of passionate locals, the town of Melrose is constantly buzzing with events all year round.

Morning walks will take us along watercourses filled with ancient river red gums that weave along the base of Mount Remarkable.

Frequent asked questions

I live near Melrose, can I come for just the Saturday workshops?
Yes please, I hope that local woman will take up this offer to attend. I hear often your isolation inhibits you from participating. Simply, choose ‘day pass’ at the check out.

What is included in a day pass?
In a day pass, you will get two workshop sessions with all materials provided, class notes and tips. Plus lunch with the other artists and retreat guests. You are more than welcome to stay for happy hour at the conclusion of the afternoon session.

I only want to do one workshop, is this possible?
I get you are busy on the land, and the sheep or kids are calling. Yes, you can come for the morning session [includes lunch] or the afternoon session. Choose the workshop pass in the check out. WARNING: you know you will be talked into staying for the happy hour at the end of the day if you do attend the afternoon session!

I am staying for the whole weekend, do I have to do both workshops?
Of course not. Sally won’t get offended if you want to explore Melrose when one of the sessions are on. Please just let us know as soon as possible so we can let people on the wait list attend in your place.

I have never done any printmaking before, will I be ok?
The printmaking retreats will provide an introductory level of printmaking for beginners. Experienced printmakers are welcome to work independently and will enjoy the beautiful and peaceful country setting of a source of creative inspiration.

The creative retreats will cater for a maximum of 10 participants per workshop.

I am unsure my car will make it from Adelaide! Can I carpool?
Sally will be asking retreat guests upon registration if they would assist in carpooling, and because creative woman are awesome, I am pretty sure we will get you to Melrose safely.

Can I bring my pet?
Sorry, not pets allowed, not even Bob the goldfish.

I am gluten, lactose intolerant have an egg allergy and a vegan will I starve?
Hell no! Sally is a vegetarian and totally gets it! However, please, please let us know when you place your registration.
